Summer Essentials You Need For Your Holiday

A list of what items to pack for your holiday is much like asking how long is a piece of string. The answer is, it depends where you’re going. However, if you’re taking advantage of the happiest season of the year planning a trip this summer, then there are some staples that you’ll need, no matter where you go.

Let’s take a look at some of the summer essentials that you need for your next exciting adventure.

Suncream, Sunglasses and Hat

Holidaying in Africa? Then this is an absolute must-have item, without a doubt. We need to protect our skin from the sun, and sunscreen does just that. If you’re going to be out in the sun during the hottest time of the day – perhaps on the beach – then a 50SPF is your best friend. Don’t forget to reapply it frequently, especially if you’re in and out of the water. 

Sun glasses are another essential item for this summer holiday. They can protect your eyes from harmful UV rays (and also make you look trendy!) Sunglasses prevent you from squinting, so they also save your skin from premature wrinkles. 

Finally, it’s important to always wear a hat when spending time outside during the day. This will help keep your head cool and prevent you from getting sunburnt on top of it all! If you can pull off a wide-brimmed hat, that’s the way to go. 

Travel Bag

Aside from some robust, hard side luggage, you need may need a lighter travel bag that can carry everything while you’re out and about. The travel bag should be large enough to fit all of your things without being too cumbersome. It should also be comfortable to carry and enjoy the safety features that you need.

Make-up and Personal Essentials

Only you know the complete list of personal essentials that you will need. But in case you need a little prod, don’t forget:

Travel Documents

Are you leaving the country? You’ll need to bring those few essential documents with you, including your passport, flight tickets, and insurance details. It’s also important to bring your driving license and visa if needed, and hotel booking confirmation so that you can prove where you’re staying during the trip. 

Finally, having a copy of your travel itinerary will help make sure everything runs smoothly when it comes time to go.

Technology (Including Adaptor and Chargers)

Who goes anywhere without their trust phone? Also, if you’re planning on staying in touch with friends and family back home, a plug adapter will be essential if your destination doesn’t use the same type of plugs as you’re used to. A power bank is also a must-have for phone users – it’s essentially a portable battery charger that can be used to charge your phone or other devices while travelling. 

Pack your Airpods, or for those who prefer wired earphones, invest in some high quality ones that won’t fall out easily during activities or at night (when you’re putting yourself to sleep). If audio isn’t your thing and instead visual media is more your jam than video games would be fun too. Grab your tablet or iPad and load it up with the games that you love to help pass the time while travelling. This is especially handy for those travelling with small children.

Insect Repellent

Insect repellent is a must-have for any outdoor adventure. It can help protect you from everything from ticks and mosquitoes to flies. If you’re heading into a malaria zone, chat with your pharmacist about what preventative measures you can take. If you can, opt for a natural product that doesn’t contain all those toxins.

The Right Shoes 

When choosing your footwear, it’s important to think about both comfort and safety. If you’re planning on doing a lot of walking or hiking, make sure that your shoes are comfortable but also durable enough to withstand the rigors of the terrain. The type of shoe you choose depends on where you’ll be going. If it’s an island vacation with sandy beaches, flip flops might not be the best choice, rather choose aqua shoes for comfort and protection.

Be sure that whatever shoes you pick will still look appropriate if/when they get wet—nothing ruins ayour day faster than soggy jeans and sneakers!

Once you’ve decided on what type of shoe(s) will work best for this trip, consider how easy they’ll be to clean and pack when heading home at the end of summer break!

Sanitisers and Toweletts 

You’re going to want sanitisers and wipes. We know: they’re not exactly thrilling products, but they are essential. 

Sanitisers in the form of sprays, gels or disinfecting wipes are an essential part of any trip, whether it be a beach holiday or a city break. They keep germs at bay by killing bacteria and viruses on contact (and help stop the spread of infection). 

For families, these are one of the most important additions to your travel bags. Toilet visits, airport snacks, coughs and sneezes, and a host of other nasties are quickly sorted with sanitising wipes. 

Bottled water

It’s a good idea to bring your own bottled water as well as some for the journey. Water is one of the most important things you need to stay hydrated and fresh on holiday, so don’t forget! If you’re travelling by car or plane, make sure you have enough in the car to last throughout your trip. If you have a reusable water bottle or flask, then that’s the way to go. 

Medication

If you use a prescription drug, bring the correct supply as well as a copy of your prescription and any other information that might be useful when traveling overseas. This should help ensure that the medication can be obtained while abroad.

Remember to bring other medications such as antihistamines, anti-anxiety, or asthma medications as needed.

WINNER NOTIFICATION

SAMSONITE will announce the winners on 7th September 2023. All participants will be entered in a random draw and the first person’s name drawn will be deemed the winner. SAMSONITE reserves the right to announce the winners via e-mail, Facebook, Instagram & website. The winner will be advised by e-mail sent to the e-mail address given by the participate entering the Giveaway. Any change in e-mail/physical address may be sent to [email protected]. If, having determined the winners, doubts appear over the accuracy of contact details provided by the winner, SAMSONITE reserves the right to ask a copy of the passport/identity card in order to validate the allocation of the Giveaway once and for all. The winner should confirm that they accepts the Giveaway and the conditions for allocating the Giveaway, by replying to the confirmation e-mail within 3 days from receiving it. He should supply his full contact details (name, first name, e-mail and postal addresses). Failure to confirm acceptance of the Giveaway and to provide the required information within the stated timescale will result in the winner losing the right to claim the Giveaway and its reallocation to a new winner. JURISDICTION

Legal relationship between SAMSONITE and the Participants is governed by the applicable laws of South Africa. Any and all legal actions or claims arising in connection with this Giveaway must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in South Africa.

RELEASE

SAMSONITE disclaims any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from participating in, or accessing or downloading information in connection with this Giveaway, and reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend this Giveaway should a virus, bug, computer problem, unauthorised intervention or other causes beyond the Organiser’s control, corrupt the administration, security or proper play of this Giveaway. By participating in this Giveaway, Participants agree that no claim shall be asserted against SAMSONITE, its affiliates or any of its respective directors, officers, employees or agents in respect of any damages, rights, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever that result from their participation to this Giveaway and/or acceptance and enjoyment of the prizes.
