Not considered as personal item because of the wheel
I purchased the Samsonite Upright Underseater (2 Wheels) 45cm expecting it to fit as a personal item under the seat as advertised. While the bag itself is well-made lightweight and spacious for its size I ran into a frustrating issue at the airport. Despite its compact dimensions the airline charged me an extra fee at boarding because it has wheels and a trolley handle. They claimed that only backpacks or rucksacks qualify as personal items and any wheeled bag is considered a carry-on even if it fits under the seat. This was a major disappointment as I specifically bought this case to avoid extra baggage fees. If i knew this I would have gone for their backpack instead. Pros: ✔ï¸è Lightweight and easy to maneuver ✔ï¸è Good quality materials ✔ï¸è Fits under most airline seats Cons: âùŒ Soft-sided design may not hold shape when packed âùŒ Some airlines don't count it as a personal item due to wheels âùŒ Extra baggage fees might apply despite the size While the Samsonite Upright Underseater is a great bag in terms of design and practicality be cautious if you're using it as a personal item on budget airlines. Some carriers will still charge you extra simply because it has wheels regardless of its size. Check your airline's policies carefully before flying!
