The perfect carry on
Before you even begin to pack for your getaway, make sure your carry-on suitcase is up to date. Find a cabin bag which is as light as possible, and, depending on your needs, make sure it has expandability for that extra pair of shoes or jacket. Make sure your carry on is under 55cm or smaller and not heavier than 7kg’s to avoid being stopped at the gate.

Getting to it
Before setting the timer to 10 minutes, think about how many days your trip is and what the occasion is. Will you be having business meetings or is it simply a leisure trip? These two very important questions will save you time and give you focus when packing your carry on. Now that you have a game plan, start your timer!

Packing on the clock (6 minutes)
Start with your clothes. Set out each outfit on your bed and eliminate any non-essential items. Take into consideration items that can be worn more than once like jeans or a jacket/blazer and include monochrome colours to allow you to mix and match. Start by packing your shoes first (as these are the larger, non-foldable items) shoes are best packed in shoe bags as this will keep all other items in your case clean and hygienic. Another handy tip – If you are planning on taking a large coat or jacket, keep that on the plane with you.

Accessories on the go (2 minutes)
Pack your essential accessories and toiletries into your favourite toilet kit. If you are travelling overseas, using travel bottles and decanting your cleaner, toner and moisturiser into smaller bottles will save huge amounts of space and be much lighter to carry. A memory foam travel pillow will make your life that much better. Having something comfortable like that to support your neck and help you sleep can make all the difference when you land somewhere and are not totally exhausted from not having slept a wink. For extra comfort, take a large scarf or poncho to keep you warm on the flight as it can get chilly.
